Valentine Class

These are the projects that I am offering with my Valentines Class on Sunday, the 8th of February. We will make the Sizzix Bag, Candy slide (with the candy hearts), Ghirardelli holder, Hershey Nugget holder using the Top Note Die, and the Woven Heart holder. All of these projects use the Love You Much Bundle that is available until tomorrow as a bundle. You are able to purchase each item separately now in the new Spring/Summer 2009 Catalog.

Bag with Scallops

This is the new Sizzix die we now have in our new Spring/Summer 2009 Catalog. (page 195) I used the Candy Lane DSP (page 159) and the Love You Much stamp set. (page 27) This die is so easy to put together. It takes a half of sheet of 12 x 12 DSP. When you run it through your Big Shot you get 3 pieces, 2 side & 1 front/back piece. With a few pieces of Sticky Strip you have a cute little bag. I finished the bag off with a piece of 1" Chocolate Chip Double-Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon and a small piece of 3/8" Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon. (page 179)

Valentine Woven Heart Basket

I've seen these Woven Heart Boxes or Baskets on several blogs, but I found a video on how to make them here. I don't have the Sizzix die, Petal Card yet, so I liked the way you can still make this card without having the die, although it would be a lot less steps if you did have it.( Did you get, "I don't have it yet?") I used some retired Patterns Pack DSP, which was a level 1 hostess item. I like to try some things with retired DSP just incase I mess up. But this was pretty easy and I think I'm going to include in my Valentine Class coming up on February 8th. Now I need to make up one using the Candy Lane DSP. I've said it before, love this designer paper.

Valentine Box Cover

Here is another quick and easy project. I found the directions here.  These would be cute for your children's Valentine gifts, they could even decorate the box.

Birthday Thank you's

So here are my thank you's for all the wonderful gifts everyone brought to my party. I couldn't believe that I got gifts too! What a bonus. I used the Raspberry Tart DSP and the matching stamp set Sweet Stems. There is also a matching Sizzix Embosslit die. I decided to use my watercolor crayons to color in the flower.  For the scallop around the wide oval punch, I took and punched a 1 1/4" circle punch and then used the circle scallop punch over that. I then cut apart the circle and clipped each little scallop, which makes it easier to put the circle scallops around the oval with the punched flowers. It takes 1 whole circle scallop and then an additional 4 more scallops to complete the oval. I used two way glue to glue down the scallops. I know, clear as mud, right? You can email me if you have any questions.

It's my birthday!

I bet most of you don't know that last week (the 14th) was my 50th Birthday. My family and friends had a Surprise Birthday Party for me! Boy, was I surprised.  We were going over to Lynne Marini's for a surprise birthday party for her husband. His birthday was the 10th (the day of the party). They told him it was for me and, they told me it was for him. So they had me go out to the garage when we got to Lynne's and everyone was waiting for me. When I opened the door they all yelled, SURPRISE! Then my Sister came around the corner. (She is the one in the red shirt) I just lost it. I think it took me an hour to calm down. Tracey came Friday and my daughter picked her up from the airport and kept her a secret all day Saturday. (She came from Ohio). They had been planning my party for 2 months, no one gave anything away, or maybe I  just didn't put two and two together.
My dear husband always said he was going to send me a "Gorilla"0-gram. Well he did. And I also had a gorilla cake that was awesome, and of course the cake was banana.  My Son and his girlfriend were in charge of the cake. They found a friend of a friend to make the cake. It must of weighed 40 pounds and cost a fortune. But it was really good cake, and looked so real.
My husband always says that he doesn't have a birth-day, he has a birth-month. Well I had a birth-week. We had pizza Sunday night. I spent the WHOLE day with Tracey on Monday (can you say shopping?), and then my adopted Mom, Carol took us to dinner at Johnny Carino's. Tuesday Michael, (my son) took me and Lynne for a Mexican lunch, which was very good. And on Wednesday my husband took me to dinner.
So, to sum it up, I had a fabulous birthday with all the people I love! I think I'm still glowing.....

Elegant Thank you
Fun Flowers
These are just a few of the new goodies in our catalog. Check it out and see for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Thank you cards

For my Christmas thank you's I used Upsy Daisy stamp set. Pacific Point is the card base and ribbon. I inked up the stamp in Baja Breeze and then used a dauber with Pacific Point to color in the tips of the flowers. I really like this technique with this stamp set. The possibilities are endless. Stamped Thanks so much from Sincere Salutations in Pacific Point and punched out with the Window Word Punch, sponged the edges (of course). Simple but impressive, don't you think?

Peppermint Patty Boxes

I saw these little boxes on Impressions by Rochelle's blog, and thought they would be really cute for Valentine's Day. I used the Candy Lane DSP and stamp set. The top is punched out with the 1 3/8" square punch and a piece of acetate goes in its place.  The Peppermint Patty's have a scallop on each side and stamped on the top and layered. I did use the smallest heart on the new heart punch as well. These are simple to make and don't take a lot of c/s or DSP. A good way to use up your scraps. You can check out Rochelle's blog for the  details. Sorry for the blurry photos, still on a learning curve with my new camera.

Mini Pocket Book

I first saw these cute little books on Patty Bennett's blog. And then again on Becky Robert's blog. I used the new Raspberry Tart DSP, along with the new Sweet Stems stamp set and embosslit that will be in the new Spring/Summer 2009 Catalog that comes out on January 19th. These are the punches I used: Tab, 1 3/4" circle, scallop circle, photo corners, designer label, small and large oval. Now you don't have to use different punches for each of the pages, you could use one or two different ones. This only uses 1 piece of 12 x 12 DSP to make the book and then scraps to do the inside pages.

Monkey Treat Holder

My youngest granddaughter, Gianna loves monkeys. I saw this cute little holder on Jill's Card Creations  (You have to click on classes to see) and knew I had to make one. I used the largest scallop from Sizzix and then the rest are all of SU punches.  The heart nose is from the new Love You Much Bundle (love that set). I drew in the mouth and ears and sponged them, of course. I think I will make up another one for Jocelyn and this is what they are going to get for Valentine's Day with a little treat inside.

Designer Series Paper Tip

Happy New Year! Hope you all are having a great day.
I have a tip today concerning the Designer Series Paper. I started writing the coordinating card stock for each DSP on the card board sheet that comes with each package. That way you don't have to look it up each time. I know that Stampin' Up! has now been including this info in the catalog, so it is much easier to find , but I found if I write it on the package itself, its even quicker.
