Big Shot Box

Here is the second project in my Big Shot Class this month. A little box using the same dies, Labels Collections Framelits die. Many Thanks to Sandy Hancock. You can download her tutorial for FREE!

Here is what I used for my box:

Flirtatious Specialty dsp
Melon Mambo & Whisper White card stock
Curly Cute Stamp set
Melon Mambo Classic Ink
For the flowers:
Small Scallop Circle, 1 3/8" Circle & Boho Blossoms (the biggest flower) Punches

Here is how I did my flowers:
Punch 6 of each punch.
Wet each piece and scrunch up. Then carefully unfold each one. Stack, and put a brad in the center, (they don't have to match up exactly. Remember, nature isn't perfect). It doesn't matter what color the brad is, as you won't be able to see it. Now scrunch up each layer, then carefully un-scrunch a bit and adjust as necessary. After I got my flowers how I liked them, I sponged some Melon Mambo ink on the edges.

This is the inside of the dauber case. Each section is labeled. No more washing your daubers because you can't remember what color you used last. Now each color has its own spot.

Notepads

Remember how we used to do these notepad toppers with the Top Note Die? Well now you can use the Labels Collections Framelits dies to do the same thing. This project was one of the things we did in my Big Shot Class this month. Once I started making these, I couldn't stop......

This would be great for a "man" gift, and uses the Well Worn dsp. I used the largest Label for the topper on the 5" x 7" notepads from Staples, added a clip covered with more dsp, then added the monogram using Lovely Letters. The wood button is new and you can get it on June 1st.

This one uses the Twitterpated dsp that will be in the new catalog (and is in the current catalog as well). I used Posy Punch, hostess set for the flowers, added a small punched flower from the Itty Bitty Shapes pack and a pearl. Baja Breeze Seam Binding & Pleated Ribbon finishes it off.

For this one I used all new stuff!
Oval Accent Bigz Clear die in Whisper White, stamped it with Forever with You, in Gumball Green (new In Color) added some more flowers from the punch pack, The sentiment is from the same stamp set, and die cut with the Apothecary Accents Framelits (4 different shapes, love this!) and stamped in Primrose Petals (another new In Color). Topped it off with some Gumball Green 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon. 

These notepads are 5" x 3 1/2", found them in the $1 bin at Staples and uses the Beau Chateau dsp and the 1 1/4" Stripped Grosgrain Ribbon. What are we going to do without this ribbon? Its one thing I'm going to miss a lot!
So these notepads are fun to make and don't take a lot of supplies to decorate. These notepads will be gifts for my granddaughters teachers.

Father's Day Tool Time Card

Day nine. I thought I forgot a card, but then realized I posted two cards in one day.  So here is another Double Pocket Card, but this time we have one pocket in front and one inside. Thanks again to Patty Bennett for video on how to make these, and also to Heidi for the wrenches punch art. Patty & Heidi are so clever!

Tip:Take a large piece of aluminum Foil and fold it half until you have about a 3" x 5" piece, then put it through the Big Shot with the Houndstooth Embossing Folder. This was when you go to add your adhesive to the back, you won't distort your design. Plus its just sturdier.
This dsp is perfect for "man" cards! I wish I had used it more........

Double Dutch Card Fold

Day Eight. Double Dutch Fold Card. I found this one on Terry Duncan's Blog.

Fun Fold Baby Card

Day seven. This card has a very unique fold. Not only does it fold from the top, but also the bottom. I found this card on Mary Ann's blog.

Ribbon Lace Border Punched Card

Day six. I found this card on Kelly Acheson's blog. This card uses the Ribbon Lace Punch & Herb Expressions both are retiring in a few days. This was a quick card as well.

Tip: I always like to punch upside down so I can see where I'm punching, but I found with this card I started upside down and the turned punch over and lined up the flowers to punch. So much easier. Thanks Kelly for a great Fabulous Folds card!

Day Five. Birthday Pop Up Card. I first saw this card on Sandy Hancock's blog. Sandy saw this type of card on Lisa Young's blog. Lisa has a great tutorial. Thanks Ladies! So here is my version.

4-Corner Fold Up Card

I've been on a mission for the past month or so to try and use up my Designer Series Paper. I have so much and pretty soon I won't be able to use it in my classes. Plus I just realized that I didn't share the cards from my first Fabulous Folds class last month. So I will be sharing one card for the next 10 days. I have to say that my friends/customers LOVED them all, which makes me so happy! Now, I did not design the actual fold,  but I did put my spin on what dsp & stamps I used. So many thanks to all who helped me and didn't even know it. I will add their link, (if I can find it.......).

Sneak Peak, Happy Birthday Dave All In One!

Today is my husband's birthday. Although he tells me he has a birth- MONTH! His only request, fried chicken, really, we don't do fried, please, I don't know......thats how the conversation started. So I am making him fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy and biscuits. Cheese cake for dessert. He doesn't know it yet, though. Surprise! We are celebrating Mother's Day and his birthday on Sunday. He always reminds me that he was born on Mother's day...... 

Ok, now on to some sneak peaks from the NEW CATALOG! New dsp, new stamps & new framelits, Yipeee!!!! I made a card & label for his peanut brittle using all new products.

Comfort Cafe (pretty funny since we are having "comfort" food tonight)

My husband LOVES Peanut Brittle, so I made a label using the Letter It stamps using the new In Color, Midnight Muse and the same die as above, Apothecary Accents.

This jar has two batches of peanut brittle. I  make in the micro-wave. Can you say YUMMY!!!


I've added my recipe for the Peanut Brittle.

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup light corn syrup

1 cur raw peanuts

1 teaspoon butter or margarine

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 teaspoon baking soda

I use a 2 cup Pyrex measuring cup to mix this in. You have to take it out to stir and its just easier to handle. Make sure you use a pot holder.

Stir together, sugar, corn syrup, peanuts and 1/8 teaspoon salt.

Cook in microwave for 3 minutes.

Stir,

Cook another 3 minutes,

Add butter and vanilla and cook another 40 seconds, 

Add baking soda, stir until mixed, (it will foam up a bit) and pour onto a cookie sheet, sprayed with Pam and let cool. You need to work fast, as it sets pretty quickly.

Break into pieces and store in an air tight container.

Here are some of the Thank You's I sent out last week. I am on a mission to use up ALL of my dsp. And these cards use an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of dsp. Plus they are so darn fun to make. You can view a video made by my upline, Patty Bennett to get the directions.

Here I used the Attic Boutique dsp from the Occasions Mini Catalog. I don't know why I hadn't used this dsp. So pretty!

Using the Two Tags Die is a great. You write on the tag and not the card. That way the recipient can now use it to send to someone else.

Emboss Resist Sunflower Card

My Upline, Patty Bennett has started a technique challenge for her Luv 2 Stamp Group. This month the technique is Emboss Resist. This is such a fun technique. Stamp your image in white Craft Ink, add embossing powder, heat, and color with a sponge, wipe off excess ink with a paper towel.
