Crystal Effects Resist!

Back in July, I saw this technique on Ariane McCosh's blog and thought I want to try it. Well, today, (since I'm not getting much else done) I thought I would try it.

My photos just don't do this card justice.....Ariane calls this technique, Crystal Effects Resist. You can see her tutorial HERE. Its very subtle. Basically you make up a mixture of 1/3 Distilled Water and 2/3 Crystal Effects. Our new Misters work perfect for this technique. Shake it up, then using a make-up sponge spray the sponge, and dab it onto your stamp. Stamp your image, and make sure to clean your stamp when you are done. Don't let it dry on your stamp. Then sponge  lighter color over the images you just stamped, and then with a darker color. Then I spritzed with Alcohol and Champagne Shimmer paint over whole card. Your stamped images POP!

Here is a side view. I did the same technique on the ornament.

Here is a close up of the ornament. I stamped 5 ornaments, die cut with the Holiday Ornaments Framelits, folded them in half and glued together with Tombow Multi glue. This is probably not a card I would send in the mail, but hand deliver.

Here is what I used to make my card:

Raspberry Ripple card base, #126942
Ornament Keepsakes Bundle, stamp & die, #129950 Clear Mount
Snowflake Soiree stamp set, #127925, Clear Mount
Crystal Effects, #101055
Stampin' Misters
Early Espresso Ink, #126974
Primrose Petals Ink, #126858
Linen Thread, #104199
Early Espresso Tulle, #127839
Tombow Multi, #110755

Halloween Square Punch Swap

This month I participated in a "square" swap for Halloween. There was 20 of us, so in the end we would all have 20 squares for our Halloween Frame. This swap was so much fun and easy to do.
I found this awesome frame in my stash. I added dimensionals to the back of each one since this is a very deep frame. So hard to take a photo without the glare.

Here is a photo of the inside. Aren't all of these squares fabulous? We are going to do a Christmas one pretty soon. Can't wait for that. Might do a class...hmmmmm, what do you think?
Here is my square. Can't remember where I saw the candy corn, but knew it was going to be a part of my swap square.

Here is how I did the candy corn.

And here is my pile of 20 swaps.

So here is what I used to make my swap:
Googlie Gouls stamp set, #128063
Polka Dot Parade dsp, #126902
Howlstooth & Scaringbone dsp, #126906 (backing for the inside of the frame)
Postage Stamp Punch, #122344
Scallop Square Punch, #119884
Petite Pennants Builder Punch, #122361
Black cardstock, #121045
Pumpkin Pie cardstock, #105117
Whisper White cardstock, #100730

More Ornaments!

Don't forget about Stampin' Up's! One day sale today! 15% off all stamps (except, hostess, bundle sets & digital stamps).

You might remember this post, in my October Big Shot Class we made this ornament using the Snow Flurry Bigz Die & the Floral Frames Framelits.

I had a whole stack of  Flowers left over and thought I could make another ornament. Well, I made 2 more ornaments.
I stamped the large medallion in the Daydream Medallions, then using the 2nd smallest flower die, die cut the center out. Then I used the smallest flower and cut out the center of that flower. Make sense??

I used the smallest die cut for the center,  and sponged it in Cherry Cobbler. I sponged the edges of the large flower with Crumb Cake.

This one I stamped the En francais on each of the flowers in Gumball Green. I added the little bells (left over from last Christmas), it just needed a little something in the center.

For the hanger, I took a piece of Cherry Cobbler Tulle and twisted it until it twisted on its self and stuck it in before I glued the last flower to the first flower.

Here is what I used to make the ornaments:

Daydream Medallions, #126467 (got this free at convention)
En Francais Background Stamp, #109521
Floral Framelits, # 127012
Gumball Green Ink, # 126861
Cherry Cobbler Ink, #126966
Crumb Cake Ink, #126975
3 1/2" Cherry Cobbler Tulle, #127841
White Bakers Twine #124262 (I sponged Crumb Cake on the twine so it wasn't so "white")
Tombow Multi Liquid Glue, #110755
Small bells, (retired)

Got Pomogranates!

My husband and son and I just picked over 197 pomegranates from the tree in our backyard.  Anyone have any good recipes that use pomegranates?
Its hard to believe that this tree started off as a piece from another plant that was given to me over 10 years ago. We kept it as a bush until this year. Then my husband started cutting the lower branches off to make it a tree. They had to pull up the branches 3 times with rope to hold all the heavy pomegranates up.

So beautiful!

Here is what 197 pomegranates look like. We were trying to guess how many pomegranates we had on the tree. I guessed over 3 dozen. Just a little short of the 197........and we still have about 10 that are small on the tree.

This beauty is 1lb. 12 oz. bigger than my son's IPhone.

and way bigger than my fist!

Christmas Faux Tearing

Thought I would switch gears and do a Christmas card using this technique and some older stamps. The "saying" is one of the "Single" stamps you can get from the Seasonal Sayings Stamp set. So, if you only like one or two of the stamps in that set, you can get them separately. Yeah Stampin' Up!
So Cherry Cobbler & Lucky Limeade are my colors today. Also got out a couple of stamp sets that haven't seen ink in a very long time. Lovely as a Tree & Delightful Decorations. Its hard to see in this photo but, I daubed Champagne Shimmer paint onto the stamp after I inked it up. All so added some to my strip on the left side. I used the tip of the single tree to may my branches on top. Tip: I wanted to use the Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine, but its white and Cherry Cobbler, I'm using Vanilla; so what I did was take my sponge and Crumb Cake and "dirtied" it up a bit. Now the Bakers twine doesn't stand out like a sore thumb......

Here is a side view. I sponged the edges with Crumb Cake as well as the ornaments.
 Here is what I used:

Lovely as a Tree, # 115026 Wood Mount
Delightful Decorations, #127787 Clear Mount
Seasonal Sayings, #132310 Clear Mount, (this is the single stamp item number)
Cherry Cobbler cardstock, #119685
Lucky Limeade cardstock, #122926
Vanilla cardstock, # 101650
Cherry Cobbler Ink, # 126966
Lucky Limeade Ink, #126984
Crumb Cake Ink, #126975
Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine, #123125
Ornament Punch, #119847
Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint, #116806

More Faux Tearing......

I got so many reply's from this post, that you liked the two gates better than just one, I decided to change it up a bit. I appreciate all the comments you all left me.
I thought this time I would mount the vanilla onto Rich Razzleberry. Patty thought it would be cool if I could make the gates look like they were opening, but I couldn't make that work.....

Here is another view.

Here is what I used this time:

Wicked Cool, #120600 Clear Mount
Toxic Treats, #127901, Clear Mount
Rich Razzleberry card base, #115316
Very Vanilla cardstock, #101650
Rich Razzleberry Ink, # 126950
Lucky Limeade Ink, # 126984
Pumpkin Pie Ink, #126945
Black Stazon Ink, # 101406

Thanks again for taking the time to comment!

A Couple of Things.....

I've had several people inquire about just getting the directions for my Tic Tac Holders. I finally finished the Christmas ones, so I'm adding another option to that post. You can view it here!

I've also moved up the ship to date for the Christmas Holders to November 1st. Today I found multicolored Tic Tac's at Walmart. I will use these (as long as I can get them) for the Turkey Holder.
