Vintage Leaves Meets Suite Seasons

I was inspired by a card I saw on Kimberly Van Diepen's Blog today. My card uses different colors, but the layout is the same.
I first stamped the leaves with Soft Suede onto Crumb Cake cardstock, then sponged the edges with, Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive. These seem to be my "go to" fall colors.  Gold Wink of Stella was used on all the highlights of the leaves. Makes them just sparkle. Added some Snail on the back of each leaf and used some of the Copper Metallic Thread. Finished the leaves off with a Burlap Ribbon bow. We will be making this card in my Holiday Card Class on the 8th.

Can you see the sparkle? Love it!

Color combo.

To make the splash of color I used Pumpkin Pie Ink, just swirl it on your card front with a sponge or a dauber. Keep adding color until you are happy with the intensity. The leaf will cover the center. Add your strip of Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper and stamp your sentiment in Soft Suede, then your leaf with dimensionals.

Last thing I did was add some splatters of Gold Wink of Stella. I really love how this turned out. These might also be my thank you's for next month.

Cutting Guide:

4 1/4" x 11" Thick Whisper White cardstock
1" x 5 1/2" Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper
Scraps of Crumb Cake (for the leaves)

Watercoloring Lifting Using the Swirly Bird Stamp Set

Saturday is my oldest granddaughter's birthday. She will be 11 years old. Not sure when that happened.......That really makes me feel old!

So, keeping with the Watercoloring Lifting technique, I decided to use the Swirly Birds Stamp set. So I was thinking circles and this set works out perfectly. I used Mint Macaron and Dapper Denim, and added the color at an angle. I shared the video from Brandi (at Stampin' Up!) with you yesterday and told you to stay tuned. Make sure you check out her video. One tip I would give you is when adding the Fast Fuse to adhere your watercolored Shimmery White cardstock is to make sure you have adhesive close to all four edges and a little in the center. I didn't get my adhesive close enough to the edges and it wants to peel back. Remember its been wet twice and doesn't want to lay all the way flat.

Jocelyn is at the age where I don't know really what she would like. Which is another reason we are going Birthday shopping and to lunch on Saturday. That way she can pick out exactly what she wants. I'm sure Panera's will be where we have lunch. I do know that is her favorite place.
The Stylized Birthday stamp is die cut with the Layering Circles, (the largest ones). I added some Gold Metallic Thread behind the sentiment and some of the 3/8" Ribbon from the combo pack on page 47, (with the Paisleys and Posies Suite). That ribbon ties a knot so nicely. Then to finish the card I added the Dapper Denim (In Color) Enameled Shapes. I thought the stars would be good for a birthday.

So what do you think? I think I will be using this technique again. I'm caving and going to get the Paisleys and Posies bundle, that set will be perfect.

Cutting Guide:

4 1/4" x 11" Mint Macaron cardstock, scored at 5 1/2"
4" x 5 1/2" Shimmery White cardstock
Scraps of Dapper Denim and Shimmery White cardstock for the sentiment

Yes, Its That Time Again, Stampin' Up! Only Challenge

This week its all about Thanks and Thanksgiving. I loved this weeks challenge. Fall and leaves is the first thing that comes to mind. You can play along too: http://suochallenges.com/
I used the Totally Trees Stamp set, which I have to say, is becoming one of my favorites. When the Holiday Catalog first came out, I told myself, well I don't really like this set. I was so wrong, its perfect for fall cards. I used the leaf stamp and Versamark Ink to stamp, then heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. Using Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and Rich Razzleberry Ink and a sponge, I sponged on the Very Vanilla cardstock, over the entire piece. Blending in each color, then take a tissue or paper towel and wipe off excess ink. These colors are so rich together. I did have a hard time getting a good photo. I think its because of the Gold Foil Paper.
Here is the inside. I stamped the leaves in all three colors and added the sentiment. I also sponged with Rich Razzleberry (very lightly).

I added the 1/4" Gold Natural Trim Ribbon and adhered to the Gold Foil layer, then the Rich Razzleberry card base. The sentiment has half a Gold Foil Doily attached to it and Dimensionals to pop it up. The final touch was a few of the Gold Enamel Shapes.

Don't forget you can play too: http://suochallenges.com/

Cutting Guide:
5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Rich Razzleberry cardstock, scored at 4 1/4"
2-3 3/4" x 5" Very Vanilla (for front and one for inside)
3/4" x 2 3/8" Very Vanilla
4" x 5 1/4" Gold Foil Paper

Merriest Wishes Shaker Card

Isn't the Pine Bough Embossing Folder beautiful? It is such a nice embossed image.
I couldn't wait to get the Large Letters Framelits because I knew I wanted to make this card. Its funny, I didn't realize it until just now, the shaker is in Whisper White, while the card is in Very Vanilla.......I think when you make yours, you would want them in the same color......We made this card in my Holiday Card Class this month. As I went to cut all the paper for this card, I realized I didn't have enough of the Gold Foil Paper so I used Gold Glimmer Paper, but I didn't want to waste all the Glimmer Paper that is behind the first layer, so I die cut the letter first.

You can see my ornament from the Merriest Wishes stamp set is embossed with Gold Embossing Powder, then die cut with the matching Merry Tags Framelits, (get the bundle and save 10%). You have all the dies you need to make a shaker card in this set.

As I went to cut all the paper for this card, I realized I didn't have enough of the Gold Foil Paper (for class) so I used Gold Glimmer Paper, but I didn't want to waste all the Glimmer Paper that is behind the first layer, so I die cut the letters first. And then you can use that as the middle layer. You could also die cut or punch other things too. Still plenty of space, since only a little bit will be showing on the edges.

Cutting Guide:

5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Very Vanilla cardstock, scored at 5 1/2"
4 1/2" x 5 3/8" Gold Foil or Glimmer Paper
4" x 5 1/4" Very Vanilla Embossed with the Pine Bough Embossing Folder

For the Shaker Ornament:
2- 2 1/4" x 2 1/2" Very Vanilla and 1-Window Sheet

Suite Seasons, In Everything Give Thanks

Isn't this sentiment awesome? I love it. I think we sometimes forgot to be thankful.....this was the second card we did at Carol's Tea Party on Saturday. I had some extras and used some other ribbon to change it up a bit.

We used the Leaflets Framelits for the leaves. I die cut a whole bunch of leaves in Early Espresso, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and Delightful Dijon and let everyone pick which color leaves they wanted. They also could choose which ribbon they wanted, either the 5/8" Mini Stripped Ribbon or the Delightful Dijon 3/8" Ribbon Trio Pack.
You can see we also used the Woodland Embossing Folder.
I have a tip for you.....when adhering the top of the Acorn to the Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper, use Tombow Multi Liquid Glue. You need to hold it for a few seconds till its dry. That is the only glue that I've found to hold on the Glimmer Paper.
I decided when I was making up the extras that I had to add the Metallic Enamel Shapes to the leaves.
This one is retired. I so loved this ribbon......Stampin' Up! please bring this back!
I also added some flecks of Gold Wink of Stella.

Cutting Guide:

4 1/4" x 11" Delightful Dijon cardstock, scored at 5 1/2"
4" x 5 1/4" Very Vanilla embossed with the Woodland Embossing Folder
1 1/4" x 3 1/2" Very Vanilla (for the sentiment)
Scraps of Delightful Dijon, Early Espresso, Pumpkin Pie, and Old Olive

Vampires, Witches, and Ghosts, OH MY!

This is one of the cards we did in my Holiday Card Class this month. I used two stamp sets, Jar of Haunts and Suite Sayings. The Everyday Jars Framelits also work perfect with this stamp set.

I'm really loving the Halloween Night Specialty Paper. And I love my little "mummy" with the googlie eyes. If your "mummy" feels a little too sterile.....use your Aqua Painter and the Basic Grey ink in the lid and add some shadows and dirty him up a bit. Instead of using Black, I used Basic Grey to stamp the mummy and greeting.
The greeting comes from Suite Seasons, isn't it fun? Adding just a little Black cardstock and Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper makes the whole card come together. The Halloween Night Baker's Twine finished the card. Seriously, I am loving all the new Baker's Twine in the Holiday Catalog. So much to choose from.

Cutting Guide:

4 1/4" x 11" scored at 5 1/2" Thick Whisper White cardstock
3 3/4" x 5 1/2" Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper
1" X 5 1/2" Basic Black cardstock
1/2" x 5 1/2" Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper
Scrap of Whisper White for the mummy

Thoughtful Branches, Birthday Card/September's Paper Pumpkin Video

I gave this card to one of my BEST friends for her birthday this week. We have been friends for over 25 years. Hope you have a GREAT Birthday Lynne B.

The Thoughtful Branches Bundle (stamp set and matching Thinlits Dies) are still available. This time I thought I would try Vellum.

For the top layer, I inked up my Hardwood Background stamp in Watermelon Wonder and stamped onto Watermelon Wonder cardstock. Then I took the lacy stamp in Touches of Texture and stamped just the edges. Next I roughed up the edges (I used an old tool that Stampin' Up! used to sell), but you can use the blades of your scissors too. Using Pear Pizzazz cardstock I die cut the flourish from Flourish Thinlits Dies, adhered with Tombow Multi Glue.

Next I added snail to one of the Hydrangeas and added my Silver Metallic Thread, then attached just above the flourish. For the second flower I scrunched it up in my hand (very gently), added some pieces of Dimensionals and slightly offset from the bottom flower. I can here you all shrieking, scrunch up the vellum.....What? It really makes the flower more 3 dimensional, don't you think?

And finally, I added some of the lace Watermelon Wonder ribbon (sorry, its retired). Glued that piece onto a Watermelon Wonder card base. I did sneak in some Silver Sequin Trim into the ribbon.

I decided that the sentiment would have to go on the inside, so I first added a piece of the Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate with a piece of a Doily, then the Whisper White banner on top with the sentiment from the Tin of Cards stamp set.

I was inspired by a card that Billie Moan made. I have a hard time when it comes to layering stamped images like I did with the Hardwood Background and Lacey stamp, but I love how this turned out and will be doing it again. Thank you Billie!

Cutting Guide:

4 1/4" x 11" scored at 5 1/2" Watermelon Wonder cardstock
4" x 5 1/4" Watermelon Wonder cardstock
Scraps of Vellum, Pear Pizzazz and Whisper White cardstock

Totally Trees Note Card

Short post today. I'm so excited! This is one of the cards we will be making at Carol's party tomorrow. Mostly new stampers. So my cards need to be super easy, easy is hard for me, but I think I pulled it off.
So this is one of our Crumb Cake Note Cards. You can find them on page 176 of the Annual Catalog. They are really a good deal. You get 20, 3 1/2" x 5" (so a little smaller than a regular card, but you are still able to mail), note cards and 20 envelopes for $6. Such a deal!

I added a strip of the Petals and Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper to the top of the Very Vanilla piece. Then stamped the Happy Birthday (Stylized Birthday, love it!) in Rich Razzleberry. For the trees, I stamped the tree in Soft Suede and then Mint Macaron. Easy peasy!
I added a Line Thread bow. Took two pieces of the thread and then tied the bow. A glue dot holds it in place.

Cutting Guide:

Crumb Cake Note Card (already cut and scored)
3 1/4" x 4 3/4" Very Vanilla
1/2" x 4 3/4" Petals and Paisleys DSP

Supply List:

Special Offers good through Wednesday, September 21st. 25% off all 10 items.
