25 and Counting Frame, So much Fun!

I've been working on my "25 & Counting Class for a few days now. You know, a few minutes here, an hour there.....But I think I'm just about done. My class is Sunday, so excited. It will be an all day class, as the sanding and painting will take a couple of hours, then putting all of the boxes together and wrapping dsp around each one, along with the stamped image. The scene was so fun to do. The fireplace was cased from Jackie Topa, (I love all of her punch art), the tree I saw on Monica's blog, no directions, so I had to "wing it". The wreath is from our Stitched Felt Pieces in the Holiday Mini.
Love how it turned out! Now, what to put in the boxes for my grandkids.....hmmmmm? Any ideas? Leave me a message, I will have some blog candy for the winner! I will pick a winner on Saturday, October 22nd. Make sure you include your email address so I can get a hold of you.
Here is a close up of the center of the frame.

  5. This is amazing!! I'm in awe. Any chance of publishing a tutorial on this one? Usually I can figure things out, but this is just spectacular!

Not that it isn't enough work, but are little tree ornaments an idea for some of the boxes? You could mix it up- a little candy to enjoy now, a little toy (something simple from the dollar store) to enjoy for a while, and something lasting to last forever!

  17. This is just beyond fabulous! You are so talented and I also would love to be able to come to your workshop!

My FIL use to put a old coin in each of the grandkids stockings, so that would be something special and if you do not have an old coin, you could get some of the $1 coins and put in a couple of the boxes.

Thanks for sharing your talent and inspiration with us!

  20. Beautiful!! What would be fun is to purchase a small Christmas tree and purchase small ornaments. Put an ornament in each box and everyday they can take one out and decorate the tree! You could also try to find a small nativity set and each day take out a figure and the baby Jesus could be the one in the 25th. Also you could include a piece of candy every now and then :) Gail S.

Whatever you decide - what a beautiful project!!

  23. Hi Cindee!
I would mix it up with candy and little ornaments. You could even put a little gift card for a treat at a local eatery such as Jamba Juice, McDonalds, or such. You could also have a note saying "Ask Mom", and you could give Mom a few larger treats for that day. So Fun!
Where did you get the frame?
    Thanks for sharing!

  26. Just wish I lived closer to come. Great Job!!! So what to put in those 25 boxes....not sure which sex we have so: barrettes, necklaces, earrings, chapstick, charm/charm bracelet, match box cars (might have to take out of the packaging), gc to McD's, lego's, beadkit to make ornament or jewelry, maybe the kids collect something rocks/coins, tiny ornament w/their initials. What about a pile of circles to make an ornament with. Or each day then add things/parts (stickles, glue dots, felt pieces, head pins) and at the end you can make a really cool project that took 25 days to collect all the items, maybe have them guess what they could possibly do with all the collected items. Or a slip of paper in each box that kids use to give to moms on holidays instead you give it to them: will read a story to, so many minutes of undivided attention, individual craft time, meal or ice cream out kinda stuff, trip to a park/zoo/etc, ok out of ideas - Good Luck and now off to do my own 25 days, LOL!

  27. I absolutely love your 25 and Counting Frame !! You put so much work into it. Wish I lived close enough to join your class. I made a countdown calendar for my granddaughter and put little candies and little ornaments or Christmas critters then for the
25th, I put a clue for the first step of her "treasure hunt". She followed the 10 different clues to find a special gift.

  28. LOVE IT!
For what to put in the boxes. 1)I think you could come up with 25 sample items (stickles, glue dots, ribbon, popcorn kernels, etc) and in the end they get to create an ornament(s) to put on the tree.
    2) What about reverse thing of what kids give you for holidays. Create a list of things the kids would like to do with you: go to the park, craft time, storytime (Home and at the library or school age volunteer 1 day in the classroom), a meal or snack out, a trip to the zoo/park/museum etc, movie date w/all the trimmings, help bake.
    3) Each day you give them either candy or gum, gc to movies/McD's, something that they are collecting (coins, rocks, pins etc), or a clue to something that is in the house but couldn't fit in the box, LOL! OK out of ideas..... K3M13@yahoo.ca

  29. Yes, so wonderful and very detailed. Like others, I wish I could take your class. As for what to put inside, I think my ideas have already been said. I like the coupon idea for things such as read a story, go look at lights, make cookies, make a gingerbread house, make Christmas decorations, things holiday oriented.
Let us know what you come up with.

  30. How about corresponding number of coins...like two pennies in the #2 box etc. At the end of the month they would have 3.25 and every day they could count with you so it could be a math lesson disguised as fun! What ever you do, it is adorable!! They will squeal with delight!

  31. Wow Cindee, this is gorgeous!! I didn't think about checking your blog before I sent e-mail (another dah moment for me). I love everything about it. Now I am getting excited.

  32. How did I miss your blog candy announcement -- dah, see my post above. My suggestion is for the little guys, plastic army men (you can put a clue in to find a "big" bag -- boys love these old fashioned figures). For the girls hair clips, pretend make-up, nail polish (girls are so easy).

  33. Wow! What a cool creation and perfect use of the 25 and counting set. I've always liked candy in an advent calendar, but I also like the idea of putting small trinkets in each one that relate to the gift of the birth of Christ (kind of like the Easter egg/symbols that are available during the Easter season.

Great job, I'm sure your class will be well worth it for those who choose to participate. TFS! Kelli D. (papersweetsink@yahoo.com)

  36. Adorable decorating on the advent calendar! What to put in it? Hmmmmm...I think I would do a mix of kisses, small items favored by the kids, special notes from their G&G, and maybe the finale of something like a promise to do something FUN w/them.. a play, a movie, a sleepover at G&G, an outing somewhere special or baking. Have fun figuring it out! I'm hanging on to these ideas in case I get grandkids! (LOL)
