Many of you have asked how I did my Fabric Roses. I am hoping to do a video (my first) next week, but until then, here are some photos to help you.
| Here are a couple of my projects using the Fabric Roses. |
| This one you can see how the "burlap" Rose adds so much texture. |
| I even used fabric to wrap around this bottle with a single Rose. |
| And here is another wreath. I wrapped fabric around the wreath and then added my Roses. |
In this tutorial I used the Floral District Fabric. You will also need:
Glue Gun
Glue Sticks
| I started with a piece of fabric torn, 1 1/2" x 18, folded it in half and tied the end in a knot. Because the fabric isn't the same on both sides, I folded my strip in half. If your fabric is the same on both sides you won't need to fold in half. |
| Start wrapping the fabric around the knot like in the photo. Add a small drop of hot glue once you've gone all the way around. When using the hot glue, remember, less is more! You only need small drops to hold your flower together. |
| Now you will start folding BACK the fabric. Using your thumb, flip the fabric up. It will form a triangle. Add a dot of glue. |
| After you fold and add your glue, move your thumb down a 1/4 turn, then fold back again, glue, move down. Remember to keep the folds kind of even with the knot. Otherwise, your flower will be really thick. I found that as long as I didn't think too hard, just kept folding, glue, move down, my rose turned out nice. When I tried to make sure all the folds came out at a different spot, it looked terrible. |
| This photo is a bit blurry, but you can see the petals starting to form. Once you get your flower however big you want, just glue the ends down and then add to your project. |
| I made up a little chart to show you the different fabric widths. These all used 18" in length and then the width as above. You can see the flowers getting bigger as the width gets wider. |
Thank you so much! This is an awesome technique!
