Leadership Gifts!

I made these flowers into pins for my friends that are attending Leadership. They are super easy. I originally got this flower idea from Sandi Dailey. You stamp 6 Sunflowers using the Sunflower Stamp (big stamp) on First Edition Specialty Paper, cut them out. You need to cut up into every 3 or 4 petals. Then spitz each one with water and scrunch them up. Carefully unfold and let dry. Stack them and glue together with hot glue.
Now for the fabric flower. You need 2 pieces of fabric. One is about 1 1/2" x 12" & the other in coordinating fabric, 2" x 12". You will accordion fold each piece using a strip of card stock cut at 1/2" x 11". This will be your guide. I sprayed mine with a little spray starch and ironed every few folds. Then you will cut each one in half diagonal. You will have enough for 2 flowers. Clip from the cut side down a bit on each fold. Lay them one on top of the other and make a running stitch all the way down and cinch it up and tie in a knot. Then grab the beginning and sew together. This will give you your flower. Add a brad or button to the center. I hot glued the fabric flower inside the paper flower and added a pin back to the back of my flowers. Check out Jackie's video if you need a visual. I know I do!
The first flower I used Timeless Portrait fabric and Antique Brad. I originally stamped the sunflower with Cherry Cobbler Ink, but it came out pink when I spritzed it. So I turned the paper over and stamped the Sunflower in black. When I spritzed the black flowers the Cherry Cobbler ink bled into the black. I liked this better than just the Cherry Cobbler.
For the rest of the flowers I used Twitterpated Fabric in the Occasions Mini. This Sunflower was stamped in Riding Hood Red. For the center I used a Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch in Pear Pizzazz and an antique brad on top of that.
This Sunflower was stamped in Island Indigo ink and I used another punch and green Brad is part of the Ribbon & Brad Pack you can get FREE for Sale-a-bration.
This flower was stamped with Pear Pizzazz, another punch and the Twitterpated Buttons.
This final flower was stamped with Baja Breeze ink with another brad from the Ribbon & Brad Pack for Sale-a-bration.
Thank you, Sandi and Jackie for your flower ideas!

  1. Oh my Cindee -- these are beautiful. Love the addition of the fabric!! For those that don't own a hot glue gun, just a dab of snail adhesive in the middle will hold the flowers together until you add your brad. If I use a buttong I just sew it on through all the layers. I have to do it this way because I "ALWAYS" burn myself with the hot glue -- LOL. I am going to try to make one with the fabric included next time. I have only made either all fabric or all DSP -- so I like the idea to combine. Thanks for sharing!
