Happy Memorial Day

I hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day! We had a nice BBQ with our kids and grand kids yesterday. Ribs, hamburgers and hot dogs. Watermelon, macaroni salad and more. We topped it off with Strawberry Shortcake.
This was the best photo I could get of all of them together. They had a ball in the pool all afternoon. The big joke is: Are your feet and hands pruney? (is that even word?) They didn't care. Only got out long enough to eat and then right back in. All they needed was the pool noodles and diving sticks and they were happy campers!

We almost got Jesse in the pool. He wants to go in, but still not sure. He loves playing in the sprinklers. He turned 6 months old on the 22nd.

Memorial Day is hard for us as we lost my Father-in-law 14 years ago on Memorial Day. In fact, we were working in the yard when we got the call that Dad had a heart attack and died peacefully in his chair at home. Just like he wanted. His wish was to be at home, and go before my Mother-in-law which he did. So this morning we went and put flowers on his grave that he shares with my MIL. He loved Peonies, and just happened to find some at Trader Joe's.

Since my mom is also at the same cemetery we put some pink Lilly's on her grave.  Holidays are so hard for us since we have lost all of our parents. Make sure you hug the ones you love, before its too late!

Thank you to all the service men and women who have lost their lives or are injured so we can be free.

  1. I loved this post Cindee!! It's so true, we must hug and love the ones we care about as much as we can while we're still around... Life is too short! Hugs..
