You can see it a little better in this photo. This "tree" started out as a slip from a floral teacher I was taking classes from many years ago. We kept it as a bush for a long time, then my husband said, lets let it get really tall. I really think he just didn't want to trim it..........hahaha! Its really not in the right place to be a tree. You couldn't even get up the deck stairs without getting hit by a pomegranate.
Jesse is watching me pick all of the pomegranates.
These are just the bags I picked. When my husband came home, he picked the ones I couldn't reach. We thought we were going to get a lot of rain that night (wishful thinking), and the pomegranates were just starting to split so we better get them all picked. I lost count after 125......this was a bumper crop!
We have quite a few that are this size.
Do you know how to seed a Pomegranate? The best way I found was to cut in half, and use a big bowl of cool water. If you submerge the pomegranate in the water, and break apart the seeds, the seeds sink to the bottom and the pith floats on top. You also don't get red fingers....I love to freeze them in snack baggies and then eat them for a snack.
I will be posting another card tomorrow!

So that's what they look like when they're growing! Now I wonder what you will do with all of the seeds in a short amount of time. (Here in the East, we only get pomegranates one at a time at the grocery store.)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Cindee! We love those at my house! That is amazing!
