I made these treat bags (thank you very much Patty Bennett) for my stamp club gals. They keep me going every month and I so appreciate them. Not that I don't appreciate all my customers, because I DO, its just that these gals purchase from me EVERY month.
Ok, so onto my treat bags:
Aren't they cute? Can you tell which punch I used for the "bricks"? Yes, its the Ticket Punch. The "bag" is the Owl Punch, and the"presents" are the little ticket from the Ticket Punch. Santa's "boots" are the Heart Punch which is retired. You can use the new Heart Punch, but you have to do a little work on each heart.
So, I'm guessing you want to know what is inside these bags.........Christmas Crack. I did not name it. Funny story; I found this recipe in a magazine and it was called Nestle Stixx Mix. Nestle USED TO make these candy/cookie stix that you broke up and added to the mixture. Well they don't make the Stixx any longer and a friend of mine re-named (thanks Kayla) it to Christmas Crack because once you try it you don't want to stop eating it. So now I add chocolate chips, or M and M's. I use my Lasagne pan (which is bigger than a 9" x 13" pan and usually don't measure the first 3 ingredients and double the syrup you pour on top.
Nestle Stixx Mix
4 cups oven-toasted corn cereal
2 cups popped popcorn
1/2 cup walnut halves, pecan halves,
slivered almonds,
or dry-roasted peanuts
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 box (3.64 ounces) any flavor Nestle Stixx,
cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1/2 cup dried cranberries or raisins
Directions:
Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Grease 13 x 9-inch
baking pan. Combine cereal, popcorn and nuts in
prepared pan. Combine brown sugar, corn syrup, and
butter in medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium
heat, stirring until butter is melted. Boil without stirring
for 3 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla extract
and baking soda. Pour over cereal mixture; stir to coat.
Bake for45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Cool
completely in pan, stirring frequently. Stir in Nestle
Stixx and cranberries or raisins. Store in airtight
container.
