Meet Jesse!

The newest member to our family.
We picked Jesse up last night. He is a Liver and White Springer Spaniel. This was the first time in our back yard. We have 3 steps coming out of the sliding door and onto the patio. He had not used steps before. Stood and barked at us, like, Hello, pick me up......

After the hour ride home he was exhausted. And missing his sisters and brother. Jesse was the 3rd of 6 puppies to find new homes. We saw his Mom & Dad and Grandpa, they are beautiful show dogs. We will not be showing Jesse.

My husband picked him up and he snuggled right in. Everything was going well until bed time.......took him out to potty, and then in his create he goes. We turned out the lights and went upstairs.....that's when the whining and barking started. We let him go for 30 minutes. Then brought the create upstairs in our bedroom. Put him back in and got into bed. Then the whining and barking started again. We let him go for a few more minutes and I finally went and got him. In bed with us he went. He checked out the bed and snuggled with our Cocker Spaniel, Jeremy. Never moved until 7:15 this morning. Ok, this might be alright for now when he is small, but pretty soon he will be too big, and I really don't want him in bed with us. So we shall see how tonight goes. I'm tired just thinking about it. Its been 8 years since we had a puppy. I think we might be getting too old for this.......who's idea was this anyway? Oh, I know, my HUSBAND! Jesse was his Christmas present from me.
I promise to share something creative tomorrow......that is if I get any sleep.......

  1. We recently got 2 Border Collie puppies and right away thought the same thing ~~ we are too old for this !! We hadn't had a puppy for 15 years so it was surprising how much work they are. But it gets better and better every day :0) Best of luck to you and Jesse !!

  2. We had the same problem with our Staffie when he was a pup, but we bought him a cuddly toy that was bigger than him, left a lamp on and the radio on low, it only took us 3 nights and he stopped the whining, thinks it's more to do with them being on their own for the first time!..
Hope Jesse settles down soon and you have many happy years of companionship!
